NPFL Super Six: Enyimba FC, Remo Stars share spoils in opening game
The opening game of the 2022/2023 NPFL Super Six Playoffs saw Enyimba International FC and Remo Stars share the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
A result that will leave Enyimba International FC disappointed after leading on two occasions at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium Onikan on Saturday afternoon.
The first half failed to produce any goal from the few chances created. Fatai Abdullahi struck the woodwork in the 4th minute, while Olalekan Adebayo tried his luck for the Sky Blues from long range but it went wide in the 15th minute.
Phillip Odubia then struck the woodwork for Remo Stars in the 20th minute while the remaining minutes of the half was dominated by key midfield battles.
Adiele Eriugo broke the deadlock for Enyimba in the 60th minute of the game. That goal sparked life into the game as Remo Stars pushed for an equalizer.
Coach Ogunmudede of Remo Stars then introduced veteran forward Junior Lokosa for Andy Okpe and minutes later that change produced a positive outcome.
In the 77th minute Junior Lokosa drew the Sky Blues level to spark celebrations in the stands. That will not last for long as the Peoples Elephants soon restored the lead.
Emeka Obioma fired the Aba based outfit in front again with a 79th minute penalty kick.
With the time ticking away, Nduka Junior pulled Remo Stars level deep into stoppage time to force a share of the spoils at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium Onikan.
A point apiece for the Peoples Elephants and the Sky Blues to start the 2022/2023 NPFL Super Six playoffs
