NPFL Super Six: Rivers United FC join Insurance and Lobi Stars on list of qualified teams
NPFL Champions Rivers United FC on Monday joined Bendel Insurance and Lobi Stars on list of qualified teams for the 2022/2023 season super Six Playoffs.
Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt defeated Sunshine Stars of Akure 1-0 in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 21 tie at the Adokiye Amesiamaka Stadium Port Harcourt to book the playoffs ticket.
Combative Midfielder Morice Chukwu scored the winner in the 25th minute to wrap up the champions push for a Super Six playoffs spot with two games to spare.
The Pride of Rivers will next face Doma United in another rescheduled fixture on Thursday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium before the final game of the season, an away tie against Rangers International FC on Sunday in Awka.
Rivers United FC are seeking to defend the NPFL title they won at the end of the 2021/2022 season.
According to the IMC, NPFL Super Six PlayOff will hold in Lagos from June 3 to June 11, 2023. Rivers United, Lobi Stars and Bendel Insurance have now confirmed their spots in the competition.
