NPFL U17 Youth League playoff set to thrill in Benin as five teams secure spots
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) U17 Youth League’s group stages, which kicked off on Thursday across five different venues, was concluded on Saturday, Febuary 3, 2024, paving the way for an exciting playoff showdown in Benin, Edo State.
Katsina United, Rivers United, Plateau United, Remo Stars, and Rangers International youth teams emerged as the standout performers, securing their places in the eagerly anticipated playoff event.
In Group A, held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, Katsina United topped the table with an impressive 7 points, securing the sole ticket to the playoff. Meanwhile, in Group B, Plateau United clinched victory with 6 points at the Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State, dominating over the other three competing clubs.
Group C, hosted at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, saw Rivers United U17 team emerge victorious with two wins and one draw, earning the right to represent the zone in the upcoming Benin playoff. In the South West zone, Remo Stars dominated Group D at the Ekiti center, amassing six points to outclass Sunshine Stars, Sporting Lagos, and Shooting Stars.
Rangers International cadet team showcased resilience, overcoming challenges from Heartland, Abia Warriors, and Enyimba International to secure their spot as group winners with 7 points.
The highly anticipated playoff, scheduled to take place in Benin, Edo State, will be contested in a round-robin format. The tournament, set to unfold from the 18th to the 24th of February 2024, will determine the ultimate winner of the NPFL U17 Youth League.
