NPFL week two results: Draws dominate across match centres
The second matchday of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) was filled with tight contests and numerous draws across various centers.
In the North Central derby at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United could not find a breakthrough, ending the match in a goalless draw as both teams settled for a point.
In Katsina, Katsina United staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Bendel Insurance 2-1. Bendel Insurance took the lead through James Orosanye, but Lukman Bello quickly equalized for the Chanji Boys. The match seemed destined for a draw until Azeez Falou struck late to secure all three points for the home side.
Over in Uyo, Akwa United salvaged a point against visiting Abia Warriors. Adejoh Ojonugwa gave the visitors the lead, but Edidiong Ezekiel equalized from the penalty spot during stoppage time, ensuring a 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere, Bayelsa United and Kano Pillars also played to a 1-1 stalemate, while Shooting Stars of Ibadan were unable to overcome Plateau United, with the game ending 1-1.
Among the few victories on Sunday, Remo Stars earned a narrow 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars, while Rivers United secured a commanding 3-1 victory against Heartland FC.
