NPFL23 Matchday Nine: Nasarawa United stun Remo Stars as Gombe United edge Plateau

Nasarawa United seemingly put their struggles behind them as they defeated Remo Stars 2-0 on Monday’s NPFL23 Matchday Nine action in Jos. The Solid Miners picked up a big win at their adopted home ground thanks to a goal early in either half.

Joshua John opened the scoring for the Solid Miners after only eight minutes to put them ahead before Emmanuel Ogbole scored a second in the 47th minute of the encounter. Nasarawa United have won just two games this season in the league, while Remo Stars have now failed to win any of their past four games.

Elsewhere in Gombe at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe United picked up a dramatic 3-2 win over Plateau United in their NPFL23 Matchday Nine clash.

Anayo Ogbonna opened the scoring for the Savannah Scorpions at home after 12 minutes before Albert Hillary levelled matters in the game seven minutes later. Rahman Olanrewaju restored Gombe United’s advantage in the 23rd minute as they ended the half on top.

Moses Adikwu headed home his first goal of the season from a long throw by Daniel Itodo in the 47th minute to restore parity for Plateau United before late drama unfolded. A 90th minute shot from Victor Dawa was handled by a Plateau United defender, allowing Mahamadou Souley to step up and score a penalty with the last kick of the game.

Gombe United picked up their first win in three games as Plateau United saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end.
