NPFL23 Matchday Six: Doma United stun champions as Akwa United trounce Remo Stars
Enyimba defeat ElKanemi Warriors, Shooting Stars defeat Nasarawa United
Doma United recorded a massive win at home to overcome champions Rivers United in their NPFL23 Matchday Six clash at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. The Savannah Tigers came from behind to record a 2-1 win at home. Denis Ndasi Kadiang opened the scoring for the Pride of Rivers in the first half before Usman Musa scored in either half to hand the home side a second win of the season. Doma United are unbeaten in three and have now ended the champions’ unbeaten start to the season.
Akwa United claimed a comprehensive 3-1 win over 10-man Remo Stars in their NPFL23 Matchday Six clash in Uyo. Cyril Olisema scored for the second game running from the penalty spot to give the Promise Keepers the lead before Akanni Qudus equalised for the visitors. Uche Collins restored Akwa United’s lead in the first half before Segun Olalere scored an own goal in the 60th minute to make it 3-1. Andy Okpe saw red in the 55th minute of the encounter for Remo Stars.
Enyimba returned to winning ways as they made light work of ElKanemi Warriors in Aba. The People’s Elephant claimed a 2-0 win and picked up all three points thanks to a brace from Chukwuemeka Obioma.
Shooting Stars secured all three points from their NPFL23 Matchday Six clash with Nasarawa United with a 2-0 win in Ibadan. Samuel Ayanrinde scored a brace on his debut for the Oluyole Warriors to secure the win for them.
Plateau United claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Kwara United in Jos thanks to an own goal from Kwara United’s Muritala Dagbo.
Sunshine Stars defeated Bayelsa United 1-0 in Akure to further plunge them into crisis. Stephen Chukwude’s fourth minute effort was enough to give them all three points at home.
Wikki Tourist claimed their first win of the season after defeating Rangers 1-0 at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. Ibrahim Abubakar scored the winner for the home side on the stroke of half-time.
Lobi Stars moved to the top of Group B on goal difference after their goalless draw away to Niger Tornadoes in their NPFL23 Matchday Six clash.
