NPFL23 Super Six Day Two: Enyimba secure first win as Rivers-Remo ends in stalemate

Enyimba picked up their first win of the NPFL23 Super Six when they defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. The People’s Elephant got the game’s only goal through NPFL goal king Chukwuemeka Obioma, who headed home from close range in the first half to score his 16th of the season.
Rivers United and Remo Stars played out a 2-2 draw in their thrilling NPFL23 Super Six Matchday Two clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. The reigning champions took the lead when Nyima Nwagua stabbed home from close range in the first half before Olalekan Adebayo equalised in the second half after poor goalkeeping. The midfielder gave the Sky Blue Stars the lead in the 95th minute with his second of the game before Lukman Adefemi scored straight from kickoff to steal a point for the Pride of Rivers.
Bendel Insurance were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunshine Stars in the final game of Day 2 of the NPFL23 Super Six as they extended their unbeaten run to 20 games this season. The Benin Arsenal took the lead inside seven minutes through Divine Nwachukwu before the Akure Gunners responded in the second half through Ekerette Udom.
After the second round of matches, Enyimba and Rivers United top the standings with four points apiece while Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance have two points each. Lobi Stars and Sunshine Stars are level at the bottom with one point apiece.
