NPFL24 Matchday 17: Enyimba drown Sporting Lagos, Remo Stars remain top
Kano Pillars, Doma Utd, Shooting Stars, Lobi Stars all win
Enyimba moved up to fifth in the NPFL24 log following a 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos, who are now winless in five games. A penalty from Eze Ekwutoziam and a late strike from Akanni Elijah were enough to seal the points in favour of the home side, sending the visitors into the relegation zone.
Remo Stars kept their place atop the league standings with a 2-0 win at home to Sunshine Stars in their Southwest derby meeting on Matchday 17. A late brace from Aniekeme Okon was sufficient to give the Sky Blue Stars another impressive win.
Lobi Stars kept the pace with Remo Stars at the summit of NPFL24 after their 2-0 win against Kwara United in Ilorin. Goals from Samuel Tiza and Stanley Ogabor were enough to give Lobi maximum points away from home.
Kano Pillars edged Plateau United in their NPFL24 Matchday 17 clash in Kano. The home side came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Abdullahi Haruna and Abdullahi Musa in the second half. Albert Hillary had earlier opened the scoring for Plateau United.
Shooting Stars picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Bayelsa United in Ibadan, with an early strike from Kareem Ademola proving enough for the three points.
Akwa United came from behind to claim a 3-1 win over Abia Warriors, climbing out of the relegation zone after their NPFL24 Matchday 17 meeting. Emmanuel Onu gave Abia Warriors the lead before goals from Mubarak Said, David Phillip and Hadi Mohammed gave the Promise Keepers a needed win.
Niger Tornadoes picked up a 3-2 win over strugglers Heartland in their NPFL24 Matchday 17 clash. Akintunde Azeez opened the scoring for Niger Tornadoes before Clement Ogbole drew Heartland level and put them ahead with a brace. Mohammed Hussaini scored to equaliser for the home side before Sadiq Isyaka scored a late winner.
Bendel Insurance claimed a 2-0 win over Rangers International at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. Junior Osaghae and Ismael Sarki scored in either half to give the Benin Arsenal all three points from the clash.
Doma United claimed a vital 2-0 win over Katsina United to start the year on the right note in NPFL24. Bidemi Owoku and Samuel Enefiok both scored early for the Savannah Tigers as they picked up the win.
Gombe United held Rivers United to a 1-1 draw at the Pantami Stadium. Andy Okpe opened the scoring for the Pride of Rivers before Wasiu Alalade scored an equaliser for the home side.
