NPFL24 Matchday Seven: Sporting Lagos thrash Pillars as Lobi Stars go top
Bendel Insurance, Rangers, Enyimba all win
Sporting Lagos picked up a comprehensive 3-0 win over Kano Pillars in their NPFL24 Matchday Seven clash to return to winning ways. Former Kano Pillars ace Junior Lokosa scored twice and Jonathan Alukwu scored for a fourth successive game to climb up to sixth.
Lobi Stars claimed a vital 2-1 win away over Bayelsa United in Yenagoa to head to the summit of the NPFL24 standings. Samuel Tiza have the Makurdi-based side the lead in the first half before Robert Mizo equalised with a powerful header for his sixth goal of the season. Tiza added a second in the second half to seal the points for his side.
Bendel Insurance returned to winning ways with a huge 1-0 win at home to high-flying Remo Stars in Benin. Ismael Sarki scored the game’s only goal in the first half.
Rangers continued their fine start to the season as they claimed a 2-0 win over Heartland in their Oriental Derby in Awka. Kazeem Ogunleye and Kenneth Igboke got the goals for the Flying Antelopes.
Shooting Stars claimed an impressive 4-1 win over Niger Tornadoes in their NPFL24 Matchday Seven clash in Ibadan. Ayobami Adekunle opened the scoring for the Oluyole Warriors before Ernest Chidi equalised for the visitors. Ayodeji Bamidele, Gbolagade Adelowo and Kareem Ayinde scored in the second half for Shooting Stars.
Enyimba overcame the challenge posed by Kwara United in their clash in Aba, claiming a narrow 1-0 win from the clash. Chijioke Mbaoma scored a penalty in the first half to hand his side the win.
Rivers United escaped with a point at home after a 1-1 draw against Sunshine Stars. Duke Osimaga opened the scoring for the Owena Waves before Alex Oyowah scored a last-gasp equaliser for the home side.
Akwa United played out a goalless draw with Plateau United in their NPFL24 Matchday Seven meeting in Eket.
Doma United claimed an impressive 3-0 win over Gombe United in front of over 20,000 fans in their Gombe derby at the Pantami Stadium. Emmanuel Ekpeyong opened the scoring for the Savannah Tigers before goalkeeper Osayi Kingdom provided two assists, both for Emmanuel Jesam to seal the win.
Ibrahim Dehinde scored twice for Abia Warriors as they claimed a 2-0 win over Katsina United in Umuahia in their NPFL24 Matchday Seven meeting.
