NSC Chairman Assures Super Falcons of WAFCON Bonus Payment

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has assured the Super Falcons that they will receive their cash rewards for winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), despite the delay in payment.
Speaking in London, Dikko explained that the delay was caused by government budget procedures. He said President Bola Tinubu approved the payment in August 2025, but the process must follow official government steps before the money can be released.
According to him, the payment is now being handled by the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General.
He expressed hope that the money would be paid before the next WAFCON tournament but stressed that even if it comes later, the players will still receive their full rewards.
Dikko also assured the team that the money would be paid directly into each player’s bank account and not through any third party.
The NSC chairman said the government remains committed to rewarding the Super Falcons for their success and appreciated their achievements for the country.
