Nuno Plays Down Aina’s Absence After Forest’s Loss to Villa
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has said the team must stay focused despite missing Ola Aina in their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday evening at Villa Park.
Aina, who has been one of Forest’s top players this season, was not part of the squad due to a calf injury he picked up during their 1-0 win over Manchester United at the City Ground.
His absence was noticeable, especially in the first half, as Forest struggled to cope with Villa’s attacking pressure.
The Nigerian defender has played a big role in Forest’s season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 30 league games. His strong defending and support in attack have helped the team push for a UEFA Champions League spot.
Many fans and football experts were worried after Forest’s shaky first-half showing, with some pointing to Aina’s absence as a key reason.
But speaking on BBC Match of the Day, Nuno said the team should not rely on one player.
“We had some absences,” Nuno said. “It’s all about finding the balance and still being able to perform.”
With important matches still to come, Forest will hope Aina returns soon as they aim to finish the season strong and secure European football next year.
