Nwabali not ‘in a hurry’ to make European move
Nigeria’s journey to the 2023 AFCON final was helped through by the confident performances by Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Following his performances to help Nigeria clinch a silver medal at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament, the Super Eagles goalkeeper is now linked to clubs in Europe and Asia.
Nwabali has addressed rumors of a potential transfer to Europe following his standout performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite receiving praise and interest from fans and clubs alike, Nwabali has emphasized that he is not in a rush to leave his current club.
Nwabali’s impressive displays at the AFCON, where he replaced Francis Uzoho as the first-choice goalkeeper for Nigeria, have sparked speculation about his future.
The Chippa United goalie joined the Nigeria national team fold shortly before the AFCON where he excelled with four clean sheets and saving two penalties in the semi-final against South Africa.
While acknowledging the interest from clubs and fans urging him to move to Europe or a bigger club, Nwabali expressed his comfort and lack of desire to rush into a decision.
He values feeling at ease in his current situation and does not feel compelled to seek immediate changes.
“People have been sending messages like they want me to move to Europe or they want me to move to a bigger club”, Nwabali told Arise News.
“I really appreciate that, but to be honest, one thing about me is that I always feel comfortable even if I’m in a small place; I don’t like to rush.”
