Odion Ighalo inspires Al Wehda to 3-1 victory over Al Riyadh
Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo scored his ninth goal of the season to inspire Al Wehda SC to a 3-1 win against Al Riyadh, in the Saudi Arabia Pro League.
The match began with Jawad El Yami breaking the deadlock nine minutes before halftime, giving Al Wehda the lead. The home side continued their offensive efforts, with Craig Goodwin extending their advantage in the 82nd minute.
Despite Al Riyadh’s attempt to stage a comeback, Saleh Al Abass managed to reduce the deficit, scoring for the visitors four minutes later.
However, Odion Ighalo, a key figure for Al Wehda since his arrival in the summer, sealed the victory by converting a penalty deep into stoppage time.
Ighalo’s contribution to the team’s success was significant, adding to his impressive goal tally for the season.
The 34-year-old striker has now netted nine goals in 14 league appearances for Al Wehda this season.
With this victory, Al Wehda currently holds the eighth position on the league table, amassing 25 points from 18 games.
The team’s performance, bolstered by Ighalo’s goal-scoring prowess, positions them well as they navigate the challenges of the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League.
