Odion Ighalo reveals early career challenges
Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo recently shared insights into one of the challenges he faced while pursuing his football dreams.
The Nigerian footballer has been consistently showcasing impressive skills with his Saudi Arabian club, Al Wehda.
In a conversation with the African football boots brand “Wurasports,” Ighalo revealed the financial hurdles he encountered in acquiring proper football gear, especially coming from a humble background.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Ighalo disclosed, “I was born and brought up in Ajegunle, and I know how difficult it is to have a boot then. I can remember we always share boots then when we want to go to training, sometimes if I’m training in the morning, I have to use it if my friend is training in the evening. So it’s very expensive then.”
He further recounted how his mother would take him to various markets like Aswani market, Katangua, and Badagry in search of affordable yet durable football boots.
Meanwhile, Ighalo seems to have forged a partnership with Wurasports. The African brand is known for producing eco-friendly boots that are sustainable, recyclable, and affordable.
During the interview, Ighalo expressed his intention to donate boots to the boys at his football academy, highlighting his commitment to supporting young talents.
