Odion Ighalo’s ex-wife begs for forgiveness

Sonia Adesuwa, the ex-wife of former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo, has once again made headlines, but this time with a message of reconciliation.

After publicly expressing her grievances about their failed marriage, Adesuwa has now extended an emotional apology to her former husband.

Taking to Instagram, Adesuwa shared a heartfelt message acknowledging the pain caused by their separation and expressing her remorse for the impact her previous public statements may have had on Ighalo.

In her post, she reflected on their journey together and highlighted the efforts they both made to preserve their family, despite the ultimate decision to divorce.

In her Instagram stories, Adesuwa wrote a lengthy message, expressing her gratitude for the time they spent together and the challenges they faced as a couple. She acknowledged the struggles Ighalo went through to be a devoted father amid pressures from family and public life.

“I am using this opportunity to express my sincere apologies for the negative impact my posts may have had on you,” Adesuwa stated. She emphasised the importance of peace in Ighalo’s life, given the demands of his football career, and assured him that she holds no resentment.

Adesuwa’s message also included a wish for grace and strength to co-parent harmoniously, ensuring their children grow up with pride in both their parents. “If I could wish anything at this moment, it would be for divine grace and strength from God to help us co-parent harmoniously and ensure our children feel a sense of pride in us,” she added.

The couple’s split became public in 2022, and since then, Adesuwa has been vocal about her feelings on social media, even making controversial remarks about their relationship.

At one point, she made headlines for her statement, “Marry who you can afford,” referring to the financial dynamics of their marriage.

Ighalo, known for his successful football career, including stints at Manchester United and currently playing in Saudi Arabia with Al-Wehda, has remained relatively private about the details of their separation.

Despite the public tensions, Adesuwa’s latest message signals a desire for peace and a focus on their children’s well-being.

This apology marks a new chapter in the relationship between the two, as Adesuwa seeks to mend fences and co-parent their children with mutual respect.
