OFFICIAL: Wilfred Ndidi extends Leicester City stay

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has signed a new deal with the club, keeping him at King Power Stadium until at least June 2027, subject to Premier League approval.

The 27-year-old joined Leicester City from Belgian side Genk in January 2017 and has since made 273 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

Ndidi has been instrumental in the Foxes’ successes, including their FA Cup, Community Shield, and Championship triumphs.

Ndidi, known for his tough tackling and combative style, was a key part of the team that won promotion to the Premier League as Championship winners last season. His new contract would extend his stay at Leicester City beyond a decade.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Ndidi expressed his excitement about the new deal: “I feel great, I feel excited, I feel at home. That’s the most important thing. I feel really happy to continue with the Club. My family is settled here and everyone back home, when they say Ndidi, they say Leicester also! It’s really amazing to be a part of this journey going forward.”

Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Ndidi began his career with Nathaniel Boys before moving to Europe to join Genk. His performances in the Belgian First Division A and UEFA Europa League earned him a move to Leicester in January 2017. He made his debut for the club in a 2-1 victory against Everton at Goodison Park and was named Young Player of the Year after just four months.

Ndidi’s contributions continued to shine, winning the Club’s Young Player of the Year Award again and helping Leicester achieve back-to-back fifth place finishes in the Premier League, along with lifting both the FA Cup and Community Shield.

At the international level, Ndidi has been equally impressive, earning 58 caps for Nigeria and representing the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ndidi will now rejoin his Leicester City teammates in preparation for the opening Premier League game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur at King Power Stadium on Monday, August 19.
