Okagbare handed 10-year ban for doping violations
Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare has been handed a 10-year ban for multiple breaches of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
The Olympics Games medallist was issued a five-year ban for the presence and use of multiple prohibited substances and another five years for her refusal to co-operate with the AIU’s investigation into her case.
“The Disciplinary Tribunal has banned Nigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare for a total of 10 years,” read the Athletics Integrity Unit statement on Friday.
Okagbare was suspended during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after failing a drug test.
She tested positive for human growth hormone, a prohibited non-specified substance and was not allowed to continue participation in the women’s 100 meter.
