OKC Thunder look to extend their historic start
The Oklahoma City Thunder are putting together one of the hottest starts we have seen in years, and their momentum does not look like it is slowing down anytime soon. After opening the season 23–1, OKC has become just the third team in NBA history to start a campaign with a record that strong. They have also stacked up 15 straight wins, tying the longest winning streak in the franchise’s OKC era.
Now the Thunder head into the NBA Cup Quarterfinals with a chance to break that streak and set a new franchise record. Led by Shai Gilgeous Alexander, they will face the Phoenix Suns with a shot at their 16th straight win. The game doubles as a knockout matchup in the NBA’s midseason tournament with a spot in Las Vegas on the line.
The Thunder have been beating playoff teams and contenders along the way. The combination of young talent and disciplined play is turning them into one of the most exciting teams to watch this season.
If they secure another win, not only do they move on in the NBA Cup, but they also set a new mark in team history, which makes this stretch even more meaningful.
