Okechukwu: We lost concentration in Tunisia but we will get the job done in Asaba

Olympics Eagles captain Azubuike Okechukwu is confident Nigeria will beat Libya in Asaba on Monday in the return leg of their AFCON U-23 qualifier to progress to the next round.

Nigeria U23 were taking apart by Libya in the first leg of the AFCON U-23 qualifier played in Tunisia last Wednesday.

The star-studded Nigerian were the favourites but fell to an early goal, reduced to ten after goalie Adamu Abubakar was sent off and ultimately fell 2-0 to the underdogs.

But Azubuike Okechukwu is confident he and his group will get the job done when they host Libya in the reverse fixture on Monday in Asaba.

“We’re going to fight to get the team through to the next round of the qualifiers,” declared Turkey-based Okechukwu.

“We’re Nigerians and with us anything is possible.

“We didn’t play compact, we lost concentration, we conceded two goals and then we got a red card, but we will do better in the second leg.”

Nigeria must beat Libya with at least three unreplied goals to make it to the next round of the qualifiers.
