Okereke’s goal completes 3-2 comeback win for Venezia against Mourinho’s Roma
David Okereke was on target as Venezia secured a 3-2 comeback win against Jose Mourinho’s Roma on Sunday.
The new comers showed they were no push overs as they came from a goal down to secure a big serie A win at Stadio Pierluigi Penzo.
Venezia took the lead in the third minute of the game through Mattia Caldara.
But goals from Eldor Shomurodov and Tammy Abraham in the 43rd and the additional time of the first half put Roma back and in front.
Jose Mourinho side continued the second half as they ended the first going in fore front but failed to increase their tally.
Then, Mattia Aramu equalised for the home team from the spot kick after a penalty was awarded for a foul on Mattia Caldara.
In the 74th minute, 9 minutes after Venezia equalised from the spot kick, David Okereke scored the winning goal.
The Nigerian who enjoyed the battle up front against Roma’s central defenders excelled in the clash.
Venezia hung on to the 3-2 scoreline for a famous win against Roma.
The win is their first against Roma in the Serie A since their last win in February 1999.
It is also the first time Venezia have scored 3 goals in a Serie A in game in nearly 20 years.
