Ola Aina gets new rival at Nottingham Forest

Nigerian International Ola Aina has a new rival at Nottingham Forest following a recent arrival at the Premier League club. SportsRation reports.

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Álex Moreno from Aston Villa in a statement on their official website. The left-back has joined the Reds on loan for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season, with Nottingham Forest having the option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign.

Álex Moreno, a former Barcelona youth player, joins Forest in search of more playing time. Last season, he started only eleven Premier League matches for Aston Villa. The 30-year-old, known for his versatility as a left-sided fullback and occasional wing-back, will add depth to Nottingham Forest’s defense.

The signing of Moreno comes as Nottingham Forest looks to strengthen their squad and provide competition for Super Eagles star Ola Aina. Aina, who primarily played as a left-back last season but also filled in as a right-back and wing-back, is expected to face increased competition with Moreno’s arrival.

Aina, who suffered an injury early in the second half of Nottingham Forest’s season opener against Bournemouth, has had his contract extended for another year. Forest activated a one-year extension in Aina’s contract three months ago, keeping him at the club until at least the end of this season.

Álex Moreno’s move is part of Nottingham Forest’s strategy to enhance their squad depth as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures. After a draw in their opening game against Bournemouth, Forest will face Joe Aribo’s Southampton in their next Premier League match this Saturday.

Moreno expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “I’m looking forward to contributing to the team and helping Nottingham Forest achieve their goals this season.”

Nottingham Forest fans can expect to see Moreno in action as the team continues their campaign in the Premier League.
