Ola Aina Ruled Out of Everton Clash with Calf Injury
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina will miss their Premier League match against Everton due to a calf injury.
Aina, 28, had to be helped off the pitch during Forest’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at the City Ground. The injury occurred in the first half, and following medical scans, it was revealed that the former Chelsea and Fulham player had suffered a calf problem, though the club has not given a clear timeline for his return.
Speaking ahead of the important home match against Everton, Nuno gave an update on Aina’s condition:
“For this game, no, unfortunately not. For the next one, we hope. He is going to be assessed day by day. I don’t know how many hours he spends at the training ground receiving treatment, so we are trying to have him back as soon as possible,” said the Forest boss.
Aina’s absence is a blow for Forest, who are currently 3rd in the Premier League and pushing for a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The injury adds to Forest’s growing list of fitness concerns, with Chris Wood, Anthony Elanga, and Taiwo Awoniyi also doubtful for the Everton clash.
“We are still assessing all of them… some small [injuries], some not so small,” Nuno said. “We miss all the players when they are not available. Many are not playing in their usual positions, but we have to cope.”
With just seven matches left in the season, Forest are hoping Aina can return quickly to help them maintain their position near the top of the table.
