Ola Aina scores with thunderbolt strike In Nottingham Forest win over Aston Villa
Nigerian defender Ola Aina scored with a thunderbolt strike in Nottingham Forest 2-0 win over Aston Villa in the English Premier League.
The goal, Aina’s first in Forest colours opened the scores in the 5th minute of the match at the City Ground on Sunday, November 5.
A cut-back found an on-rushing Ola Aina who steamed in to crash a thunderbolt right foot attempt from 22 yards which flew past Martinez into the far corner of his net.
It was as sweet a hit as the Forest right back could have wished for as he celebrated only the sixth goal of his career and first since joining the Red’s as a free agent in the summer.
Ref Jarred Gillett signalled a whistle to deny Aina’s compatriot Awoniyi a great goalscoring opportunity, having adjudged a foul by Nottingham Forest player Dominguez in the build-up.
Another big decision saw Ref Gillett overturn his decision to point to the spot following a lengthy VAR check that showed that Taiwo Awoniyi had strayed a fraction offside.
Nottingham Forest got a second goal in the 47th minute when Ballon D’Or goalkeeper of the year award winner Emiliano Martinez made a mistake to Orel Mangala’s sweetly hit 22-yarder hit the target.
Forest held on to seal a 2-0 win over the Aston Villa, a remarkable performance from Ola Aina and his teammates vs Unai Emery’s high-flying Villians.
