Ola Aina Speaks on Gibbs-White’s Tottenham Transfer Speculation
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has reacted to the ongoing transfer rumours surrounding his Nottingham Forest teammate, Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been strongly linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The England midfielder, whose contract reportedly includes a £60 million release clause, was said to have reached an agreement with Spurs and even scheduled a medical at their training ground last week.
However, the deal was blocked at the last minute, with Nottingham Forest stepping in to stop the transfer. Reports suggest the club is now considering legal action over an alleged breach of a confidential release clause, with suspicions of foul play.
Despite the uncertainty, Gibbs-White played in Forest’s goalless draw against Monaco at the Technique Stadium on Saturday. He was later substituted and appeared to wave at the fans, a gesture many interpreted as a possible farewell.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Aina downplayed the speculation.
“Morgan is a professional. I don’t really know the details of that, but he was here today, he trained, and he is keeping fit as normal,” Aina said.
“So you would need to ask Morgan. We are professionals, and we have a job to do, and that’s what Morgan is doing right now.”
Aina, who recently extended his contract with Nottingham Forest, also featured in the game and will be looking to maintain his strong form in the upcoming 2025/2026 Premier League season.
