Olympics Eagles to play Sudan U23 in AFCON U23 final round

Nigeria U23 team, Olympics Eagles will now face Sudan U23 in the final round of their AFCON U23 qualifiers.

The Sudanese booked their place against Nigeria U23 after their aggregate victory over Kenya in the second qualifying round.

In the first leg of their qualifying game, Sudan beat Kenya 2-0, the goalless draw in Nairobi confirmed third place in the third and last round against Nigeria.

Nigeria will now square up against the Sudan in the final round of qualifiers in June, with the winner to be eligible for a place at the 3rd Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Egypt in November.

The three –top placed teams at that championship will represent Africa at the Men’s Football Tournament of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Nigeria U23 are the defending champions and were bronze medalist at the last Olympics games.
