One of Ghana’s secret weapons Antoine Semenyo set to miss Nigeria WCQ Playoff games
Antoine Semenyo one of Ghana’s secret weapons for the must-win games against Nigeria is unlikely to play after his injury on Saturday.
Semenyo was taken off injured after just 6 minutes into the game against West Brom today at Ashton Gate Stadium – he was also subbed off on Tuesday as an injury precaution but was passed match fit for today’s game.
The Bristol City forward who has contributed 14 goals in 25 games for the Championship side was supposed to debut in the games against Nigeria but that will not be happening again.
Although Ghana have not made their squad list public, the 22-year-old Antoine Semenyo who was born in England to a Ghanaian father is said to be on the secret list.
Semanyo was named Championship player of the month of January after scoring four goals, assisting three goals in seven games.
He is one of the young forwards that Ghana are counting on against Nigeria, others are
St. Pauli Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Roma’s Felix Afena-Gyan.
Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup Playoffs on 25th March 2022 with the return leg in Nigeria to follow four days later.
The aggregate winner of both legs will qualify for the 2022 World Cup In Qatar later in the year.
