Onuachu continues rich vein of form, nets brace in huge Genk win
Genk striker leads side to important win over rivals
KRC Genk striker Paul Onuachu scored a brace for his side as they defeated rivals Royal Antwerp 3-1 in their Belgian Jupiler League clash. The Super Eagles striker continued his rich vein of goalscoring form for his club.
After scoring six goals in his past four matches for the club, the lanky striker led the line for his side in their top-of-the-table clash against Royal Antwerp, which features Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf.
Genk opened the scoring after only 13 minutes through Belgian midfielder Bryan Heynen after he was set up by Tresor Ndayishimiye. The 28-year-old Onuachu doubled his side’s advantage 20 minutes later after another assist by Ndayishimiye.
Antwerp pulled one back through former Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen in the 42nd minute to set up a thrilling second half. Onuachu would go on to have the final say in the 77th minute to give Genk a deserved 3-1 win.
Onuachu has scored eight goals in his last five games for his club after struggling with form and injuries at the start of the season. The striker has now helped his side go four points clear of Antwerp at the top of the league standings following the win.
