Onuachu Plays Down Praise After Goal and Assist in Trabzonspor Win

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has refused to take personal credit after another strong display for Trabzonspor on Friday night.
The Nigerian forward scored once and provided an assist as Trabzonspor recorded a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Fatih Karagümrük in the Turkish top flight.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 20th minute before setting up fellow Nigerian Chibuike Nwaiwu, who scored twice early in the second half to seal the win.
The 29-year-old has been in excellent form this season and currently leads the league’s scoring chart. His goals have helped Trabzonspor remain in the title race, with the club sitting third behind rivals Galatasaray S.K. and Fenerbahçe S.K..
Despite his impressive numbers, Onuachu said teamwork is the real reason behind the team’s success.
He admitted that the team started slowly but improved after discussions in the dressing room at half-time.
“As a striker, you must use your ability to help the team,” he said. “I cannot do this alone. My teammates deserve more credit than I do.”
Onuachu’s latest goal also saw him set a new club record. He has now scored in six straight league matches, the longest run in Trabzonspor’s history. The previous record of five games was held by former striker and current coach Fatih Tekke.
The Nigerian has now scored 18 league goals in 21 appearances this season, with seven coming from headers. Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, he has found the net in every match he has played, scoring eight goals in league and cup competitions.
With his strong performances and confidence growing within the squad, Trabzonspor remain hopeful of closing the gap at the top as the title race continues.
