Onyekachi Okafor audaciously predicts Heartland FC will not suffer NPFL relegation
Heartland Football Club forward Onyekachi Okafor is confident that the Naze Millionaires will secure their spot in the top-flight league by the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Despite currently being placed in the 19th position on the table, the five-time Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions are determined to turn things around.
With six wins, eleven draws, and fifteen defeats from twenty-two games so far, Heartland FC have their task lined – they must win all of their remaining six matches to have a chance of staying in the league.
In a chat per Daily Post, Okafor said that the players are putting in their utmost effort to ensure the team’s safety. He also mentioned the motivation they receive from the Imo State government, which fuels their determination to succeed in the NPFL.
“The team is motivated by the Imo State government in other for us to achieve our NPFL safety,”
“We are very positive of staying in the NPFL at the end of the season.” Okafor stated confidently.
Heartland’s journey to secure their spot in the league continues as they prepare to face Gombe United when the league resumes this weekend.
In the build up, Heartland FC suffered a 4-0 friendly game loss to Enyimba FC in Aba in a game Coach Christian Obi said was just an opportunity to test players who have not tasted much action in the NPFL.
