Osayi-Samuel Left on the Bench as Fenerbahce Secure Comfortable Win
Fenerbahce continued their push for the league title with a convincing 4-2 away victory over Bodrumspor, keeping the pressure on Galatasaray. However, Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel was left on the bench throughout the match after his recent international duty with Nigeria.
Osayi-Samuel, who featured in Nigeria’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe, was not called upon by Jose Mourinho as his side dominated the game. Fenerbahce took an early lead through Milan Skriniar’s header in the fifth minute, but Bodrumspor equalised in the 31st minute from the penalty spot.
Just two minutes later, Youssef En-Nesyri set up Oguz Aydin to restore Fenerbahce’s advantage. Sebastian Szymanski then extended the lead from a rebound before Talisca made it 4-1 before half-time.
Despite conceding another goal in the second half from Fredy, Fenerbahce controlled the match and secured an important victory. With the win, they move six points behind Galatasaray but have a game in hand.
Osayi-Samuel will be hoping for more playing time in Fenerbahce’s upcoming fixtures as they continue their title chase under Mourinho.
