Osaze Odemwinge turns Pro in Golf, highlights difference with his football background
Former Super Eagles attacker Osaze Peter Odemwingie has embarked on a new chapter in his sporting career, becoming a professional golfer.
After retiring from football in 2018, where he enjoyed stints with several clubs in England and Russia, Odemwingie has found a new passion in golf. The former Nigeria International expressed his excitement about this transition and shared how the sport has positively impacted his life.
“It’s a long journey; I fell in love with the game and played lots of pro-am as an amateur,” Odemwingie said. “Coming from a football background, I had a decent career in a team sport. Now, in golf, it’s different. Sometimes it can be lonely, just you and your caddie, if you have one, but PGA itself feels like a family.”
Odemwingie highlighted the motivational atmosphere within the PGA, noting how it has inspired him. “It’s motivating to be around people who have the drive to achieve and get the badge on their chest. It’s inspiring because we learn so many life skills that, even at my age, are still very beneficial,” he added.
With his transition from football to golf, Odemwingie continues to pursue excellence, showing that the competitive spirit and love for sports remain strong in his new professional journey.
