Oscar Piastri Wins Chinese Grand Prix as McLaren Finish One-Two
Oscar Piastri won the Chinese Grand Prix in style, leading a dominant one-two finish for McLaren ahead of team-mate Lando Norris.
Starting from pole position, Piastri controlled the race from start to finish and took his third Formula 1 win. It was the perfect comeback after his spin in Melbourne last weekend. Norris finished second, despite a brake problem in the closing laps, while George Russell came home third for Mercedes. It was Russell’s second podium in a row this season.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished fourth after an exciting battle with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc late in the race. Verstappen’s result means he is now eight points behind Norris in the drivers’ championship.
Lewis Hamilton had a quiet race and finished sixth for Ferrari. His two-stop strategy did not work as well as the one-stop plans of the other top drivers. Hamilton had won the sprint race on Saturday and was expected to fight for the podium, but he struggled for pace. Early in the race, he was told to let his team-mate Leclerc through after the pair made contact on the first lap, which damaged Leclerc’s front wing.
Esteban Ocon scored his first points for Haas by finishing seventh. Kimi Antonelli was eighth for Mercedes, while Alex Albon gave Williams a strong ninth-place finish.
British teenager Oliver Bearman impressed again, climbing through the field in the second half of the race on a different strategy. He finished tenth, securing the final point for Haas.

McLaren’s Perfect Day in Shanghai
Piastri led almost every lap of the race, except during the pit stops, and proved he is a real contender for this year’s world title. At the start, he helped Norris by pushing Russell wide at Turn 1, allowing Norris to move into second place.
Although Russell briefly got ahead during the pit stops, Norris quickly overtook him again with a move at the first corner.
It was a great day for McLaren, who now look like serious challengers in the 2025 Formula 1 season.
