Osimhen and Napoli teammates going on permanent retreat after loss at Empoli
Victor Osimhen and Napoli teammates will be going on a permanent retreat after their Scudetto hopes finally faded away with a loss at Empoli.
Napoli were one of the title favourites but defeats in their last two Serie A games meant they no longer have any realistic chances.
Today at the Stadio Carlo Castellani Stadium, goals from Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne had put visiting Napoli up but they capitulated 10 minutes to the end of the game.
An 80 minutes strike from Liam Henderson and 83rd, 87th goals from Andrea Pinamonti handed the home team a 3-2 comeback win.
The win was Empoli’s first win since January when they defeated Napoli at Diego Maradona Stadium – Empoli had gone 17 games without a win in this period until today.
In response to the humiliating defeat that ended their Scudetto hopes the club management announced via their official Twitter page that the players will go on a permanent retreat.
“La Società ha deciso che da martedì, alla ripresa degli allenamenti, la squadra andrà in ritiro permanent.”
“The Club has decided that from Tuesday, when training resumes, the team will go into permanent retreat.”
With four more games to the end of the Serie A campaign, it is unsure how the ‘permanent retreat’ will work or what the retreat entails but Victor Osimhen and his teammates are going on a permanent retreat.
Right now, Ac Milan have 72 points, Inter Milan 71 from 33 games and Napoli have 67 from 34 games.
