Osimhen Brace Saves Galatasaray From Shock Opening-Day Defeat

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray came from behind to draw 2-2 with Çorum FK in their opening match of the 2026/27 Turkish Süper Lig season.
The Nigerian striker showed his importance to the Turkish champions by scoring a late equaliser to rescue a point at RAMS Park.
Galatasaray went into the game as strong favourites, but Çorum FK made life difficult for the hosts during a goalless first half.
Osimhen eventually broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a fine finish from a difficult angle. The goal was checked by VAR before it was given.
However, Çorum FK responded strongly. Alexandros Kyziridis equalised in the 59th minute before Jesús Ramírez completed the comeback two minutes later to put the visitors 2-1 ahead.
The game changed again in the 70th minute when Kyziridis was shown a straight red card, leaving Çorum FK with 10 players.

Galatasaray then increased the pressure as they searched for a way back into the game.
Their efforts finally paid off in the 90th minute when Osimhen found the net for the second time to complete his brace and earn Galatasaray a 2-2 draw.
The performance comes as Osimhen continues to attract strong transfer interest from top European clubs.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the Nigeria international has started the new season in impressive form, making his value clear with two important goals.
Osimhen will now hope to continue his goalscoring form as Galatasaray begin their title defence with what is a disappointing draw against Çorum FK.
