Osimhen calls Ikpeba ‘Agbaya’ over the criticism of his performance against Ghana

..... Adie funfun ko mo ara e lagba

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has blasted iconic striker Victor Ikepba over the criticism of his performance against Ghana in Abuja.

Victor Ikpeba the ‘Prince of Monaco’ and one of Nigeria’s most respected strikers was giving his take on Victor Osimhen’s performance to Super Sport.

The former African footballer of the year winner said Victor Osimhen who is a very good player has a lot to learn and can improve on.

The Olympic gold medalist and AFCON 2000 silver medalist gave an example of an incident in the Nigeria v Ghana game where Victor Osimhen went for the spectacular instead of using his head.

Victor had the chance to control the ball before playing but he went for a bicycle kick and wasted the opportunity.

“Victor Osimhen is a good player but is not yet a finished article, forget he’s playing for Napoli.

“Some of those crosses he might have controlled instead of trying to do a bicycle kick.

“He’s still a young player but I hope that he can improve where he is in Napoli and help the national team in the future.

“He needs to understand when to play the ball and when to play bicycle kicks.”

In reaction to the criticism, Victor Osimhen literarily told Victor Ikpeba to keep his advice to himself saying in Yoruba:’Adie funfun ko mo ara e lagba’ meaning ‘A white fowl does not realize it is old’.

The post prompted reactions from his colleagues and friends, and Barcelona striker Asisat Oshoala also the ‘Werey dem say mk u No Dey do bicycle kick,’ on the post but Victor Osimhen replied by calling Victor Ikpeba ‘Agbaya’

‘I go continue dey do am, no be that pundit go tell me Wetin to do…AGBAYA.’

Agbaya is a yoruba parlance which means useless.

while Victor Osimhen did not directly mention Victor Ikpeba’s name, he was talking to the pundit who criticized his decision to do the bicycle kick instead of controlling and scoring, the pundit was Victor Ikpeba.
