Osimhen donates ₦5 million to support cancer treatment for popular food vendor Aunty Esther

Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has donated ₦5 million to support the treatment of well-known online food vendor and Twitter personality, Aunty Esther, who is currently battling breast cancer.

Osimhen was moved to help after watching a distressing video of the woman, whose real name is Esther Omolola Mensah, crying in pain and appealing for assistance from her hospital bed. The clip has been widely shared across social media.

Aunty Esther gained popularity on Twitter for helping people shop and deliver market items. Her warm character and reliability earned her a loyal community of followers. However, her business has been on hold for months due to her illness, which has gradually worsened and required urgent medical care.

Recently, concerned Nigerians came together to take her to hospital, where doctors confirmed she would need expensive treatment costing several millions of naira. A verified donation account was opened, leading many people to contribute whatever they could.

On Wednesday, Osimhen made the biggest individual contribution so far, transferring ₦5 million to support her treatment. The gesture brought the elderly woman to tears, and she publicly expressed her gratitude.

“Thank you uncle, Victor Osimhen. God bless you abundantly,” she wrote on Twitter after receiving the funds.

Osimhen’s act of kindness comes at a time when he is recovering from injury. The 26-year-old missed Galatasaray’s 1–0 Champions League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise on Tuesday, having already scored six goals in three previous group matches.

He is expected to regain fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s derby clash with Fenerbahçe on 1 December. The Turkish champions currently sit top of the league table with 32 points, one ahead of their rivals.
