Osimhen, Ekong expected to arrive Super Eagles camp on Thursday, Jan. 4
Napoli striker and African Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, along with William Troost-Ekong, are expected to join their Super Eagles teammates on Thursday, January 4, 2024 as the team intensifies its preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Super Eagles, aiming for their fourth AFCON title, have been conducting their training camp in Abu Dhabi before heading to Ivory Coast, the host country for the 2023 AFCON.
Osimhen is slated to arrive on Thursday morning, while Ekong will join the squad later in the day after playing for PAOK in a victory over OFI Crete.
The team is scheduled to begin training at 9:30 am and will have a second session at 6:30 pm (UAE time) as they gear up for the continental competition, which kicks off on January 13 and concludes on February 11, 2024.
The Super Eagles’ AFCON campaign begins with a match against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, followed by a clash with the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, four days later.
Their final group stage match will be against Guinea-Bissau on January 22 at the Felix Boigny Stadium.
