Osimhen loses Iconic face mask after International duty with Nigeria
Victor Osimhen has returned to Italy after reporting for international duty with Nigeria but the forward is without his now iconic face mask.
As first reported by Calciomercato, Osimhen’s iconic mask which he has been wearing since suffering multiple compound fractures to his eye socket and cheekbone in November 2021 is missing.
On his return from injury in January 2022, Osimhen took to the field donning a face mask which has now become a trademark accessory for the striker every-time he gets on the field to play.
How he lost the item among his luggage while returning to Italy has not been detailed but it is clear that must have happened from the end of Nigeria`s 0-1 win over Guinea-Bissau on Monday March 27.
With Italian Serie A table-toppers Napoli expected back in action on Sunday April 2 vs AC Milan, the orthopaedic staff who produced the masks for Osimhen have begun the process of designing a replacement.
His use of the face mask has coincided with a rich vein of form to draw comments from some supporters that the accessory has brought him luck.
Osimhen has scored 25 goals for Napoli this season to help the club to top spot in the Italian league plus a first ever UEFA Champoins League quater-final spot where they have been drawn against Sunday`s opponents AC Milan.
Napoli fans will hope their hit-man puts behind a difficult week on a personal level, first failing to score in Nigeria`s double header vs Guinea-Bissau, reportedly nursing a minor knock and also losing his iconic facemask.
