Osimhen scores as Napoli rout Lazio
Lanky striker now has 6 Serie A goals
Victor Osimhen scored his side’s final goal as they ran out 5-2 winners over SS Lazio in their Serie A encounter at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona on Thursday night.
Goals from Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne (X2) and Matteo Politano had put Napoli up against Lazio who scored through Ciro Immobile and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso introduced Osimhen from the substitutes bench after 72 minutes, and the striker took only 8 minutes to register his name on the scoresheet. Hirving Lozano hounded a Lazio defender for possession and received the ball before playing a through ball into space for Osimhen to run into, and the young striker calmly took the ball in his stride and powerfully finished high into the net to make it 5-2 to his side.
Osimhen’s goal was his 6th for Napoli in the Serie A this season, and his upturn in form for the club has come at a very good time following his struggles with injuries and COVID since his move from Lille.
