Osimhen Shares Christmas Joy with Lagos Neighbourhood
Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, returned to his old neighbourhood in Olusosun, Lagos, to celebrate Christmas and give back to the community where he grew up.
Videos shared on social media show Osimhen handing out food items, including bags of rice, and tricycles (keke marwa) to support the residents during the festive season.
A Humble Beginning
The 25-year-old football star was born and raised in Olusosun. Before his rise to fame, Osimhen lived a humble life, selling goods on the streets and motorways of Lagos. His talent in football was discovered early, leading to his call-up to Nigeria’s U-17 team, which won the World Cup in 2015.
Osimhen’s career has since soared, taking him to top European clubs, including Wolfsburg, Lille, and Napoli, where he became a star. Now playing for Galatasaray, Osimhen continues to stay connected to his roots.
Giving Back to His Community
Despite his success, Osimhen remains deeply tied to Olusosun. He has often spoken about his upbringing and has made several visits to his old neighbourhood.
After being named CAF Player of the Year, Osimhen brought the trophy home, making his community proud. This Christmas, he returned once again to celebrate with his people, showing gratitude and sharing joy.
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba posted videos of Osimhen’s visit, highlighting the striker’s generosity and respect for his roots. Reports also indicate that Osimhen plans to extend his goodwill to his hometown of Esan in Edo State.
Victor Osimhen’s acts of kindness remind us that even in success, staying connected to one’s beginnings is truly remarkable.
