Our Fight Wasn’t Enough – Rohr

Super Eagles Head Coach, Genort Rohr says the fight exhibited by his players after conceding first against Algeria in Sunday’s AFCON Semi final match wasn’t good enough as the Eagles’ couldn’t make it into the final.

Riyad Mayrez scored a last minute freekick to seal a 2-1 win for Algeria after Troost- Ekong had earlier scored an own goal with Odion Ighalo drawing Nigeria level before Mayrez’s stunner.

Speaking at the post match presser, Rohr said “It was a big fight until the last minute, it was a wonderful match, I think my players wanted it to go to extra time thinking Algeria were more tired,”

We scored an own goal, unlucky, but we have come back every time in this tournament and this time we came back on a penalty. But a wonderful free kick from a football genius made the difference.” Rohr also said.

Nigeria will play Tunisia on Wednesday in the 3rd place playoff match at the Al-Salam Stadium by 8pm.
