Paris 2024 Race: ‘The most important thing is we didn’t lose’ – Salisu
Olympics Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf is not losing sleep over his side’s goalless draw against Guinea U-23 in the first leg of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying fixture, played at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday.
Nigeria’s U-23 side failed to find the back of the net and face a tough test away from home to book a place in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations where Africa’s representatives at the 2024 Olympics will be picked.
Despite their poor display and failure to make use of the home advantage, coach Salisu is confident his side can go win away from home.
He was also happy that his side were not beaten at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
“The most important thing is we didn’t lose here,” said Salisu.
“I am disappointed, but it is not the end of the world as we can correct our mistakes
“We have the positive mindset to go there and win, we can win even away.”
The second leg will be played in Rabat, Morocco on Tuesday as Guinea do not have any FIFA-approved stadium.
