Past and Present: Rohr, Peseiro and Eguavoen meet at CAF symposium
Past and Present Super Eagles coaches Genot Rohr, José Peseiro and Austin Eguavoen recently reunited at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Coaches Symposium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The symposium, which focuses on advancing football development across the continent, brought together top African football coaches and professionals to discuss the future of the sport, with a particular emphasis on the legacy of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and strategies for further growth.
The meeting in Abidjan marked a reunion of sorts, as Eguavoen, who currently serves as interim Super Eagles coach, had recently faced off against Rohr’s Benin Republic in an AFCON 2025 qualifier, where Nigeria triumphed 3-0.
Meanwhile, José Peseiro, who is currently unattached after his time with the Super Eagles, expressed his excitement about being part of the symposium on his social media account, highlighting his pride in contributing to key conversations about the development of African football.
The event allowed the three coaches to reconnect, share light-hearted moments, and reflect on their experiences, as viral photos from the event showed them laughing and reminiscing.
The CAF Coaches Symposium provided an important platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, aimed at shaping the future of African football and sustaining the legacy of AFCON.
Peseiro, in his post, expressed his enthusiasm for being part of these significant discussions and highlighting the importance of collaboration among African coaches to boost the sport on the continent.
