Paul Onuachu gets Saudi Arabian suitors
Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu has attracted interested from Saudi Pro League club Al-Okhdood, according to latest transfer reports.
Onuachu, who joined Southampton in January 2023 from KRC Genk for €18 million, struggled to make an impact, failing to score in 12 games. He was loaned to Turkish club Trabzonspor last season, where he rediscovered his form, netting 17 goals and providing four assists in 25 matches.
Upon his return to Southampton, the club has expressed a desire to sell him permanently. While several Turkish clubs showed interest, Egyptian news source KingFut reported that Onuachu has agreed to personal terms with Al-Okhdood. Saudi sports daily Arriyadiyah added that negotiations between Al-Okhdood and Southampton are ongoing.
Onuachu, 30, has played in Europe since 2012, representing FC Midtjylland, Vejle BK, and KRC Genk. At Genk, he scored 85 goals in 134 appearances and won the Belgian Golden Shoe in 2021 with 33 goals.
