Paul Onuachu set for permanent move to Trabzonspor
Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with Southampton for the permanent transfer of Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu.
The 29-year-old impressed during his loan spell at the Turkish club last season, scoring 17 goals in 24 games, which has prompted Trabzonspor to seek a permanent deal.
Onuachu, who played for Southampton in the EFL Championship, is set to leave the Saints after both clubs agreed on a transfer fee. Initially,
Southampton demanded €9 million for Onuachu’s services, but the fee was later reduced to €7 million, according to Turkish outlet Yomra Sonhaber Gazette.
Trabzonspor’s president ErtuÄźrul DoÄźan and coach Abdullah Avcı have been keen to retain the striker, who caught their eye with his outstanding performance, including a Puskas-worthy goal against Konyaspor.
Onuachu’s move to Trabzonspor is expected to be finalized soon, marking a significant addition to the club’s offensive lineup.
The Nigerian striker also recently competed for the Super Eagles, who secured a silver medal in the AFCON 2023 competition held in Ivory Coast.
Trabzonspor, under the guidance of coach Abdullah Avcı, are actively searching for more players to strengthen their squad as they aim to compete strongly against rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe SK in the upcoming season.
