Payne sisters set WAFCON record
Oyedupe Payne and Oyeyemisi Payne have put their names in the history book after playing for Nigeria in the last Group C game at the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations.
Sevilla attacker, Oyedupe, the elder sister of the Paynes played as the right back while her younger sister Oyeyemisi played as the left back on Sunday.
Oyedupe who played as the right-winger in Nigeria’s first game played as the left-back in Nigeria’s second game against Botswana and played as the right-back against Burundi.
Both sisters gave a good account of themselves becoming the first sisters to start a Women’s AFCON game for Super Falcons as Nigeria routed Burundi 4-0 on the night.
Oyedupe the 27-year-old attacker plays in Spain with Sevilla while her sister Oyeyemisi the 21-year-old attacker and defender plays in the US with West Virginia Mountaineers.
