Pele, Neymar, Thiago and others support Vini after Koke’s dancing threat
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pele, Neymar Jr., Thiago Silva, and other Brazilians have thrown their weight behind Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior.
Vinícius José Paixão de Oliveira Júnior was issued a threat by Atletico Madrid midfielder and captain Jorge Resurrección Merodio popularly known as Koke.
The Spaniard issued a warning to the Brazilian ahead of their Madrid derby – warning that if he does his usual dancing celebration there will be war.
“At the end of the day if he scores a goal and decides to dance it’s his call. To each his own and everyone celebrates the way he likes,” said Koke during the pre-match conference.
However, the reporter insisted and asked Koke whether or not he would understand the fans at the Wanda if they were to react poorly to Vinicius’ celebrations.
“There would be trouble for sure, it’s normal,” added the midfielder.
And Pele, Neymar Jr., and Thiago Silva have thrown their weight behind their compatriot.
“Football is joy. It’s a dance. It’s more than that. It’s a real party. Even though unfortunately racism still exists, we won’t let that stop us from continuing to smile.
“And we will continue to fight racism every day in this way: to fight for our right to be happy and respected. #BailaViniJr, Pele wrote on Instagram.
“Dribble, dance, and be yourself, happy to be who you are! Go for the top, my friend, we will dance on your next goal,” Neymar wrote on Instagram
“Dance always brother! Be yourself all the time.
“Don’t allow anyone to take your happiness, this is not a lack of respect!” Silva wrote on Instagram.
The Madrid derby between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid will be staged at Wanda Metropolitano on Sunday at 9 pm.
