Pep Guardiola responds to ‘getting sacked in the morning’ chants by Leyton Orient fans during FA Cup clash
Pep Guardiola responded to chants of “getting sacked in the morning” from Leyton Orient fans after Manchester City came from behind to win their FA Cup match.
City, the English champions, were stunned when Leyton Orient, a League One side, took the lead with an own goal from Stefan Ortega in the 16th minute. However, new signing Abdukodir Khusanov and veteran Kevin De Bruyne scored in the second half, securing City’s progress to the next round.
While City were still trailing, the home fans at Gaughan Group Stadium sang: “You’re getting sacked in the morning,” aimed at Guardiola. After the match, the City manager addressed the jeers in his press conference.
Guardiola said, “Fantastic! Well, when they say, ‘You’re going to get sacked in the morning,’ not so much! But it’s a routine in all stadiums right now. With this result, I think my chairman is not going to sack me tomorrow, that’s for sure!”
Next, Manchester City will play Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
