Perfect Monday for Nigerian football as Falconets, Flying Eagles win at African games
In a turnaround from their initial setback, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a 1-0 victory against South Sudan during their match on Monday evening in Accra.
Despite a goalless first half under pressure from the Sudanese team, Nigeria regained control in the second half. Sadiq Isyaka’s 80th-minute penalty ensured a 1-0 win for Nigeria, elevating them to the second spot in the group standings, with Uganda leading after their win against Senegal earlier.
Meanwhile, in the women’s categoty. the Falconets secured their place in the semifinals of the All Africa Games women’s title with a commanding performance against Senegal. Scoring four goals, including contributions from Loveth Edeh, Motunrayo Ezekiel, Chioma Olise, and an own goal, they dominated their West African opponents.
Under the tutelage of coach Chris Danjuma, the Falconets kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Morocco last Friday. They continued their winning streak by defeating Senegal 4-0, accumulating six points from two games and securing the top spot in the group standings.
