Peseiro labels Egypt as best team in Africa ahead of AFCON

Egypt, with their remarkable seven titles and ten appearances in the AFCON final, stand as the most successful nation in the history of the tournament.

Despite their recent loss to Senegal in the 2021 AFCON final, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah and the Pharaohs are gearing up as formidable contenders for the upcoming tournament in Ivory Coast.

Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro, in a conversation with KORAPLUS, labeled Egypt as the best  team in Africa and a top candidate to secure victory in the 34th AFCON edition.

With a rich history and the exceptional talent of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah leading the squad, the Egyptians are anticipated to be a force to be reckoned with in Ivory Coast.

In a chat with KORAPLUS, Peseiro said, “There are many strong teams that are candidates to win the AFCON, such as the Egyptian national team, which is the best in the continent of Africa, and I believe that it is a candidate to win the current version of the AFCON.”

As Nigeria, under Coach Peseiro’s guidance, also eyes a fourth AFCON title in the same competition, the stage is set for an intense battle among the continent’s footballing giants.
